Abstract: A recently promoted junior manager at a fertilizer factory faced relationship problems with his immediate superior. He had to decide whether he should cultivate a sponsor, in this case the manager of the factory, and/or go into open confrontation. The case provides an interesting example of interpersonal skills and problems.
