| Abstract: | The PTC case touches on the privatization of Pakistan's state-owned telecommunications company. The challenge facing the Government of Pakistan, and specifically the Privatization Commission, was how to successfully manage the privatization and deregulation process whilst maintaining a clear objective of the goals of privatization. Several issues were at stake - the evaluation of the company, the method and timing of privatization, attracting interest in the company, the number of competitors, the timing of their entry and the degree of operational freedom they would be allowed, as well as the regulatory structure post privatization. |
