Small businesses have difficulty in raising capital. This difficulty, among other reasons has caused many to look at leasing as an alternative financing arrangement. In recent years leasing has become a popular mode of financing, particularly in the developing countries. This note describes the importance of the leasing industry. It also outlines the problems faced by the leasing sector, the critical success factors, and the vitality of a favorable regulatory framework.
