Title: A NOTE ON COMMERCIAL BANKING IN PAKISTAN
Authors: Khan B A
Keywords: Finance
Publisher: NO
Abstract: This Note analyses the growth of the banking sector in Pakistan over the last two decades. It focuses on the interaction of government policy, increasing consumer sophistication, technological change and the overwhelming forces of the market place, all of which impacted on commercial banks in Pakistan. These factors were largely been responsible for the financial structure that has developed in the country. More specifically, the banking system is shown to be a microcosm of the conflict and occasional congruence between public policy and market forces and its performance signifies both the opportunities and the weaknesses of the financial sector as a whole.
